Carneynomics and Canada’s Trade War Economy

If Carney’s our general, let’s look at his battle strategy.

THE issue of this Canadian federal election is Donald Trump. He was pointing insane tariffs at Canada well before he got around to carpet bombing the entire global economy with them, and plans to strip us of our sovereignty as rapidly as possible. It’s not like America wants Canadians. What they want are our fresh water, oil, minerals, & real estate. They say 51st State, but what they intend is to make us another Puerto Rico, with zero voting rights or representation. There is no way in hell a regime that’s already disappearing legal residents to foreign torture gulags without due process for political speech they dislike would welcome tens of millions of new voters who despise them.

Trump is helped along the way by his ideological siblings, Canada’s own well established extremist right, already so conditioned to putting their groupthink above the well being of their county that going full quisling is entirely in character. Some will distract from this with the most superficially performative patriotism. Ontario’s Doug Ford talked tough just long enough with a slogan on a hat to push through a rush election. He secured years of additional opportunity to sell off public goods piecemeal to cronies, which is surely more personally profitable than…
